Collage1/23 – Olympic Building with Bricks4Kids - Are you ready for the Winter Olympics? Join Bricks 4 Kidz as they build a luge basic sliding track which children can modify to increase the speed and difficulty for a thrill-seeking mini-figure. Is skiing your sport of choice? Build a skier instead and watch him or her swoosh back and forth. Bricks 4 Kidz uses all LEGO building components and helps develop creative thinking and problem solving skills.

1/23 – 1/25 – Winnie the Pooh (The Musical) at the 24th Street Theater – Winnie the Pooh (The Musical) is a delightful new show based on the beloved characters of A.A. Milne and animated feature films. Welcome to the Hundred Acre Wood, where Winnie the Pooh is once again in search of honey. Along the way, he meets his pals Tigger, Piglet, Rabbit, and Owl but soon discovers that Christopher Robin has been captured by the mysterious Backson! As they prepare for a rescue operation, the animals learn about teamwork, friendship, and sharing snacks.

1/24 – Sacramento Kings vs. Indiana Pacers - The Sacramento Kings take on the Indiana Pacers in this basketball game.

1/25 – Clay Modeling for Mini Car Designers at the California Automobile Museum – For small hands only! The kids will be able to see and experience how cars have different shapes and designs over the years, and then they can build their own car out of clay – similar to how car designers still do it today! The final product can be taken home as a keepsake from the class. It’s recommended that the kids wear clothing that can get dirty.

1/25 – Legacy of a Lost Neighborhood at the California Museum - Honor the legacy of local Japanese-Americans in this special workshop on citizenship, constitutionality and the the concept of redress during WWII.  Activities will include presentations, tours by formally interned docents, a book signing for Sacramento’s Historic Japantown: Legacy of a Lost Neighborhood, and internment-inspired origami for kids.  Always enjoy FREE parking on Saturdays at the 10th and O Street lot.

1/25 – Nature’s Hide and Seek at the Effie Yeaw Nature Center – Take a guided walk through the Nature Area and see how nature protects herself by playing hide and seek.

1/25 – Sacramento Youth Symphony Winter Concerto -The Premier Orchestra of the Sacramento Youth Symphony under the direction of Michael Neumann will perform works including Beethoven’s Piano Concerto #1 in C Major, Allegro con brio, and Roger Xia, pianist, will perform Brahm’s First Symphony and Elgar’s Enigma Variations.  Roger Xia, age 11, is a resident of Elk Grove and has been a violinist in the Sacramento Youth Symphony Premier Orchestra for three years. He has studied piano and violin for seven years and attends Pony Express Elementary School. He is currently Concertmaster of the Premier Orchestra.

1/25 – 1/26 – Dino Diorama at the Discovery Museum - You and your family will find dinosaurs lurking about our Blast from the Past! exhibit.  From the peaceful Apatosaurus to the terrifying claws of the raptor family, we’ve got a dinosaur for everyone!  Make sure you catch a view of our newest beast- a life-size Velociraptor!  Bring your camera to catch your little ones transformed into dinos in our costume corner. Children craft a dinosaur diorama in the classroom.  Admission includes an animal presentation at noon & 2pm and planetarium shows at 1pm & 3pm (for ages 4 and older).

1/26 – Critters of the American River at the Effie Yeaw Nature Center – Reptiles, mammals, and birds are found all along the American River. How can you tell these three groups apart? Is it by eggs, skin or flight? Examine some biofact evidence and meet an animal resident of the Nature Center up close to decide in which group it belongs.

1/26 – Sacramento Kings vs. Denver Nuggets - The Sacramento Kings take on the Denver Nuggets in this basketball game.
