This Saturday, March 17 is when kids everywhere will be searching for the pesky leprechaun. Even if they don’t find the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow, they can join in the fun at the 22nd annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Old Sacramento.
Beginning at 11:30 a.m. in Old Sacramento, you can enjoy live entertainment and family activities. Hundreds of colorful marchers wearing the Irish green will begin the parade at 1:00 p.m. at Neasham and Front Streets in Old Sacramento and will proceed through the national historic landmark district.
Listen to the tunes of bagpipes, drum bands and view traditional Highland dancers throughout the day. Nearly 1,000 marchers will be featured in the parade all dressed in elaborate Celtic costumes and showing their Irish pride.
* 11 a.m. – St. Patrick’s Day Vendor Village featuring 15 local businesses and organizations, K Street between Front and 2nd streets
* 11:30 a.m. – Performances by Kennelly School of Irish Dance, Sacramento Sirens Cheer Elite, BTU Arts and McKeever School of Irish Dance, Various Locations: 2nd and K streets, L Street and Firehouse Alley, J Street and Firehouse Alley
* 1 p.m. – Parade Start, Front and L streets
* 2 p.m. – Performance by The Mighty Murphys, Main stage on Front and K streets
This is an event that’s worth finding parking downtown for.
Families will enjoy a live mix of music, entertainment and fun!
You never know… if you are lucky- you may just catch that leprechaun and his pot of gold in Old Town this weekend.
