There is a celebration for everything! We have National Donut Day in June, National Hot Dog in July and my favorite: National Grilled Cheese Day that was on April 12. Who doesn’t love the ooey gooey cheesy delicacies? Definitely one of my favorites! My family did celebrate this wonderful holiday with a quick dinner of grilled cheese and tomato soup on a busy weeknight.
This weekend, if you want to immerse yourself in all things grilled cheese, then you’ll want to join other families this Sunday at Sacramento’s Grilled Cheese Festival. One of Sacramento’s favorite parks – Southside Park (218 25th Street) will be hosting this yummy event. Pair specialty grilled cheeses with local craft beers for the adults or enjoy good old American and White grilled cheese with some milk for the kids.
Saturday’s event is limited to adults only (21+) and will feature specialty grilled cheese sandwiches, craft beers, local wines and desserts. But Sunday is FAMILY FRIENDLY and will feature live music, kid’s zone (bounce house, games, crafts and more).
The Sacramento Grilled Cheese Festival is supporting the Positive Coaching Alliance, an organization that is helping to transform the youth sports culture so young athletes have a positive, character-building experience through positive reinforcement with coaches, parents and athletes. Their motto is “Better Athletes, Better People”. To learn more about PCA, click here.
Tickets for Sacramento’s Grilled Cheese Festival are $10 General Admission on Sunday, $60 General Admission on Saturday (includes unlimited samples of grilled cheese, wine and beer)
